Robert Noss Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Two photos of a german officer, rank was Oberstleutnant, with a foreign neck decoration on one photo:The soldier standing to his left, a general I suppose, has the same award (???) in a higher grade ?My questions - what nation is the general ? What awards are they wearing around their necks ?And of course any other infos and comments welcome, as always. Thanks in advanceRobert
Dave Danner Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 The white cross on the German Oberstleutnant is the Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir. The black cross on the Croatian general is the Order of the Iron Trefoil. Both orders are from the Independent State of Croatia, the puppet state in occupied Croatia in World War II.
Bernhard H.Holst Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Hallo:to just add to Dave's post. The German officer bears a likeness to the later Gen.Lt. H. von Pannwitz, commander of the Cossak formations fighting on the German side in Jugoslavia. The Croatian officer appears to be the Marshall Kravernic (sp.)Bernhard H. Holst
