Naxos
Hi,I'm looking for the commands of Hauptmann von B?ckmann (22.3.16 (2)) during 1914 to 1918 Regards, Hardy
Guest Rick Research
You're in luck, because General der Infanterie Herbert von B?ckmann's volume of the Biblio army general's biographies is long out there. All the Honor Rank List 1914-1918 offers is "Staff of the Chief of the General Staff of the Field Army" and the Baden rolls show his BZ3bX-- most peculiarly-- on 23.6.15 while an Oberleutnant in Feld Flieger Abteilung 8!!!!!! Guest Rick Research
Someone with his Biblio volume should be able to clear up what the heck he was doing in a flying unit when he never got a flying badge according to Reichsheer Rank Lists! I have an EK1 document to an artillery officer who was on TEMPORARY assignment to an air unit-- apparently as an emergency "substitute" observer or maybe a ground controller. Perhaps von B?ckmann just happened to be on such temporry duty when his award was processed.

Guest Rick Research
That's quite weird-- he flew for a year, yet never earned his pilot's badge?
