Guest Rick Research Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Just picked up this full set of specialist badges authorized in late 1956 and awarded only from 1957 to 1961-- when the general purpose "all arms" specialist badges for officers took the place of branch-specific ones. It's aways nice to be able to make a complete set without having to hunt for a missing class, since these don't show up often. Several different manufacturers' variants from the reverses:These generally seem to have some enamel missing, like the 1st Class. Being vaulted and more enamel than metal, the flexing involved in wriggling these on and off past the safety-lock pin bars must have caused such stress fractures. These are quite nice badges from the coldest days of the Cold War of my own yout'.
