Steen Ammentorp Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Hi Roeland,Are you referring to http://www.generals.dk/general/Guillot/Jea...ton/France.html Though I find it a bit strange that he should later command a regiment.
Roeland Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 It is the general as shown at the link.Actually I don't know if the regiment was later or before the 4th army tank commander period.Sorry if I wrote that wrong in my last post.I can't read the sellers handwriting, I'm missing some keywords about the 507, something to do with a school.here's a scan of the writing:sentence starts from:''Il avais commandi le 507 ....''I can't make out some words. I only read he commanded the 507, the next thing up to school I can't read, as well as the words between school and Versailles (des.... ?), the sentence ends after Versailles.thanks for the help.kind regards,Roeland

Roeland Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) Hello G?rard, thank you for saying what the seller wrote. In the meantime I have a lot of other information on this general as well.A gmic member took photo's for me of his file.He had an incredible career, 1901 at Saint-Cyr, he was an officer during WW1, fought in Marocco as well and then WW2.He has been involved with tanks most time of his career since they came in use in WW1.I've translated his career file in Dutch for myself, but haven't translated it in English, I'll see if I might have some time soon to do so and list it here.here's a picture of General Guillot:if anyone has pictures or items related to this man, I'd sure love to buy it, I'll pay a good price of course.kind regards,Roeland Edited March 7, 2009 by Roeland

noir 7 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 "Promotion du Tchad": in the tradition of Saint Cyr, each class receives a name, the class-name or "nom de promotion". The "1900-1902 class" received the name "Tchad" or "Chad" in english, because this territory became definitively French at this period.Today, the name is chosen at the ministery level among three proposal of the class and are more often heroes, but could be an event too (for example in 2002 "Bicentenary" of the school).
Roeland Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 thank you for the explanation, didn't know that, very interestingkind regards,Roeland
