THREE long service awards! :speechless1: XV, IX, and LD2!!! Highly unusual pre-Third Reich Naughty Double Wear XV/IX. Note that he is wearing a Bavarian Military Merit Cross 3rd Class with Crown and Swords on the War Merit Ribbon!

    Medal bar =

Prussian Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914

Bavarian WW1 Military Merit Cross 3rd Class with Crown and Swords on war merit ribbon

    Kyffh?userbund Medal 1920s

Prussiaan M1913 XV Years Service CRoss

Prussian M1913 ? IX Years Service Medal (these would have been what were earned in sequence before the 1913 model awards were created)

Prussian Reserve Landwehr Decoration 2nd Class (which would have had to have been earned before 1914--typically after 12 years of annual drills)

    Prussian Landeskriegerverein Cross 2nd Class

for a thread SPECIFICALLY on the Prussian LKV Crosses, see

Unfortunately the photo is cropped in the lower sections of the veterans association danglies. The one on left seems to be the monogram of several possible Grenadier regiments (the pip obscures the complete cipher) while "11" apparently referss to a unit so-numbered. But I cannot make it any more legible:

Another one from the late Tony Colson's colection.

Great picture! I wish Tony was here to tell us more about it.

That Landwehr medal -is it the Prinzen type or is it always that small?

Loss of their knowledge and research notes and materials is something we won't be able to duplicate in this century.

The XII and IX were 30mm and the LD2 25mm in diameter.

:Cat-Scratch: Werner-- you mean there were ONLY 4 Prussians who got that class? :jumping:

And there is absolutely NOTHING on the photo... no photographer's name/city... zero.

He could be any of those 4, as a retired NCO.

    Soooooooooooooooooooooooo close!
