Gordon Craig Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I beleive that the picture shown below represents a complete set of brass Hungarain medal bars for mounting parade medals. I could be wrong and if there is something missing, or I have identified them incorrectly, please suggest corrections/additions. From top to bottom; 8 to 10 medals; 6 to 8 medals; 4 to 6 medals; 3 to 4 medals; 2 to 3 medals; single medal.Regards,Gordon
hunyadi Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I think you are right - can you post dimensions. I have seen many more "stuffed" onto bars and then the generals bar that I got a while ago where he was very sparing in the spacing.
Gordon Craig Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 Charles,The number of medals per bar was what Akos told me was the norm when I bought the set from him earlier this month. Here are the measurements;8 to 10 medals - 18cm = 7 1/4"; 6 to 8 medals - 15.9cm = 6 1/4"; 4-6 medals - 13.9cm = 5 7/16"; 3 to 4 medals - 9.6cm = 3 3/4"; 2 to 3 medals - 7.3cm = 2 7/8'; 1 medal - 3.9cm = 1 1/2";Here is an example of the 8 to 10 medal bar with 8 medals on it. General Ol?h Istv?n, on page 188 of my copy of NMK is wearing his medals 8 to a row and there wouldn't be much room to add more.Regards,Gordon
hunyadi Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) I think the size of the bar used was also be determined by the size of the wearer. I have seen 13 medals stuffed onto a 7 1/4" bar, but it was tight and it was to a Munkasor (no stiff regulations in that organization for sure) but the numbers given by Akos seem to be pretty standard. Nice to see a complete set of these. Not easy to find the bars even by themselves anymore. Edited December 18, 2007 by hunyadi
