Alex K Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I am afraid this is a copy.Hi Harrierany clues as to why or would that provide further information to the fakers, I must admit at initial glance they look fairly convincingregardsAlex
Harrier Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Hi, Alex, There are several things that hit you at once. The "pebbling" is wrong, the overall finish is too flat, the stampings are the wrong font and the shape is off, just for a few. I wish I could post a real set side by side with this one, but in the absence of doing that I would refer you to Dietrich Maertz's fine new book on the Knight's Cross (or Gordon Williamson's older one) for some excellent illustrations of real examples by this maker. Real Oakleaves simply jump out at you with their quality. I feel sure a member here may have a set and be able to post them for you to see. Best wishes, Harrier
Alex K Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Hi Harrier, thanks for the comments, Not being in possession of such an award, but longing to have one, any info that helps in not being ripped off is helpful.RegardsAlex
Harrier Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Without trying to plug anyone, take at look at this:http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ht=21+oakleaves
Guest IMHF Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 HarrierIs this oak leaf cluster with swords fake as well, it looks to me to be a fake? It is advertised to be original:SSG Luna, Lorenzo
PKeating Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Nasty copy...Good enough for a museum dummy or cinema prop but that's all. PK
