Hello,

the medal was given as an award or prize from the Committee of the "ВДНК" or "Выставка Достижений Народного Хозяйства СССР", the Exhibition of the Achievements of the Popular Economy of the USSR.

The russian term "Лауреат" means "winner".

The Bronze winner medal was discontinued in 1984. By the way, the 1984-type silver medal exists in 2 variations: with mirror fields and with satin-like fields (USAirForce's one).
