Ulsterman Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Hmmmm...looks like an "87" on the tabs there-@1918?
Guest Rick Research Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 OK, so assuming Inf Rgt 87-- from Hessen-Nassau-- circa 1914/15 (Leutnant with pre-white underlay and holding LD2) there was no Lt dR in IR 87 in May 1914 who fits.
Bayoswede Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 Hi all. and good morning (well in Sweden its morning now ) I just noticed that the card is stamped Rumbler Weissbaden but I don?t suppose that help anuthing? I don?t even know where Weissbaden is Christer
David M Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Wiesbaden is in Hessen-Nassau (former Herzogtum Nassau in this case)
Guest Rick Research Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Well, that certainly fits (?R/?L)IR 87. OK, since he's wearing M1910 uniform, is only a Leutnant, and has an LD2 last awarded in 1914...this must be early war. He'd have made Oberleutnant during the war. That means, since I can't find him in the dR Leutnants with an LD2 in IR 87 as of the May 1914 Rank List, that is a JUNE 1914 "final issue" invisible LD2.Checking names of infantry Leutnants dL in LWB Wiesbaden, as well as Lts DR in IR 87 from Wiesbaden-- no match from Daniel's WW1 Friedrich Orders with Xs labours. However the heck this Nassau guy got an early war WF3bX, he is NOT listed as from the unit whose uniform he is wearing.
