Laurence Strong Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 A sweet bullion set for Technical officials (building, engineering, armoury), Regimental saddle and harness officials, Fortress pioneer officials. Not to sure how many regimental saddle and harness officials would be of a high career....
Laurence Strong Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 Going to have to address the corrosion on them and have the wife stitch up the one piping. The reverse
Guest Rick Research Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Are they actually bullion? Most of the ones I've ever seen have been celleon. Maybe something extraneous and icky glooped onto them... in which case you'll have to be REALLY careful not to fray the cords off trying toremove it.
Laurence Strong Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) Hi Rick Are they actually bullion? Most of the ones I've ever seen have been celleon.I am not really sure, I fiqured bullion due to the darkness of the thread. Just how do you tell the difference?Maybe something extraneous and icky glooped onto them... in which case you'll have to be REALLY careful not to fray the cords off trying toremove it.Yeah I will have to look at it after work todayMany thanks for your help Edited March 27, 2008 by Laurence Strong
Guest Rick Research Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 WEll, bullion's metallic and that celleon stuff is like spun plastic.

Laurence Strong Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 Just enough time at lunch to do this. I think it's bullionLooks like wax or something along those lines
Guest Rick Research Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Wax isn't too bad. You might be able to pick it off.A suggestion-- but I've never had to TRY this, so don't assume it works might be--get a very nice well wrung out hot water'd face cloth and try wiping it off, softened from the gentle heat? You don't want it to melt IN, but to loosen OFF. I wouldn't try a hair dryer or something like that.

I've done this with a set of Heer regular officer tabs that had melted wax on them and they turned out ok. Have patience though while doing it.
Paul R Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 That is a nice set of tabs. If you are able to remove the wax, you might notice a big variance in the patina, where the wax covered the wire bullion.
