Bill Bourque Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Greetings, I am most pleased to show this grouping aquired today from the son of the German Army Vet, a member of the 15th Infanterie Div, 88th Regiment. His last name is Hafner and he is still living. He started off with the invasion of France and then went to the Russian Front. His son told me he was a Pioniere. Im hoping to find out more. The GAB was presented to me inside of a IC box and His son told me that these pieces are all that remains of his father's connection to WW2. I feel very fortunate to aquire these pieces and am pleasantly suprised that I was able to come in contact directly with a German soldiers family. Can anyone identfy the maker on this badge? Best, Bill Bourque
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Very nice indeed. Did you ask if you could get a photo of the guy?ThanksChri

Bill Bourque Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Hello, and thank you for the comments. Im in contact with the son and he is trying to find out more information. His father is quite old and doesnt live here locally. The compass is still warm to the touch after being pulled out of the woodwork. Best, Bill Edited May 2, 2008 by Bill Bourque

He doesnt believe there are any surviving pics as he believes his father got rid of all these items when he came to the States. Best, Bill
