RedMaestro Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 This is the research for ORB #109,668, the one I thought was mine until I looked at the scan of the medal more closely. Oh well. I can't really understand any of the documents, but my guess is that it's a long service award. I was at least hoping to get an interesting citation. Please correct me if I am wrong about the long service part. Thanks!
Ferdinand Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Well, at least it's to a high officer (a Major-General of Artillery), the commander of the artillery of the 3rd Guards Tank Corps! He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, four Red Banners and an OPW 1st Class.ORB #109668 was awarded to him (then still a Guards Colonel) on 4 July 1944 by the 3rd Belorussian Front.
Guest Rick Research Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Interesting indeed to note that even though he was a General, he had FOUR initial award Red Banners, from his 1938 screwback to 30 years award in 1949.TOO BAD this wan't yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
