Guest Rick Research Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008  Lured by the renown of my Magic Epson, this gold and painted porcelain beauty came by to visit yesterday:
Guest Rick Research Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 The reverse, "Dem Verdienste" was used between 1828 and 1871 for non-Saxons. Saxon natives had "F?r Verdienste und Treue," which became the only reverse from 1871 to 1918.The ribbon stripes got lighter in the 20th century.
Guest Rick Research Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Closeups... because when will another ever turn up on my doorstep, before wandering off again? Siiiiiigh.
Ulsterman Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 In a word-stunning-Looks as if you had some world class visitors the other day! :jumping:
Christian L Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Very nice and old piece!May i ask, which size this order has? Thanks for showing Christian
Guest Rick Research Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I wasn't measuring them... I was wiping sweat off my paws (90?F/33?C) and scanning, scanning, scanning. According to Weber, Arnol;d, & Keil, from 1828 to 1870 there were 87 of these awarded--and this is definitely from the late period (1849+) of which there were only 17 of that total!!!!!!! :speechless1:
Scott Powell Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 thank you so very much for posting this, and the other orders you have posted. i have really enjoyed your posts, these Saxon awards are stunning
