Guest Rick Research Posted August 18, 2008 Share Posted August 18, 2008 Just got in a small cache of Romanian ribbon bars today from Kev. These are 28mm wide each, so the last type, from 1970s on. What was the Gold Medal "for Service to the Socialist Country" given for, and what does it look like? Whenever this officer wore this pair, it seems to have fallen in between the various 1964-69 and 1974-79 jubilee medals-- or is this MUCH later, from the 1990s?I did not realize, but this seems to indicate, that officers did NOT receive the long service medals for 5 and 10 years-- but started AT the "Military Merit Order 3rd Class" in first place here after 15 years of service.Shall have MORE questions about odd long service practices (and the Order of Labor to military personnel) in another thread tomorrow. We have noooooooooooooooooooooo reference books, so only see what we find over here. So this two ribbon bars shows 10 years in the police but 15 in the armed forces, and NO 5 years medal.
