    Wow, nice!! :jumping:

    Looks like:

1- Ottoman, Order of Mejidie; Egypt, Order of the Nile; Egypt, Khedive's Star; Egypt, Khedive's Sudan (4? clasps); United Kingdon, Egypt Medal (1 clasp)

2- Sudan, Khartoum Star (?!?); Egypt-Sudan, Khedive's Sudan (first variety); Egypt-Sudan, Khedive's Sudan (ssecond variety)

    My guesses . . . .

I agree with Ed's opinion on the General Gordon's Star for the Siege of Khartoum as I have an example of one in my collection. I am also inclined to think that the Sheikh was awarded the Queen's Sudan Medal. I have not yet managed to make a break through in researching individual personalities in the Sudan. I intend to visit the history department at the University of Khartoum and see if they can be of assistance.

The latter three medals (from left to right) are defintely the Khedive's Star, (1882-86) Khedive's Sudan and Egypt Medal (1882-1884)

He is probably from the Shaigiya tribe as they were the only pro-government tribe left in the Sudan after the Mahdi captured Khartoum in 1885.

I can do a trace on which section of the tribe through my relations back home if the name is accurate.

    Nice photo!

That would be very helpfull. I was given the photograph by a dealer in the Omdurman Souk and he provided the name. I am currently in Khartoum.
