Ulsterman Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Check this out. I bid on this and lost. Lo-it came to live down the street from me, whence I have borrowed it for YOUR viewing pleasure. Check out the medal bar. Now THAT's a Feldwebel!
Ulsterman Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) a close up of the bar and stripes: I think I see the Prussian honor medal on war ribbon, a crown order medal, a China medal, a SW Africa medal and a LS medal. Daniel, perchance any idea who he might be? Edited November 12, 2008 by Ulsterman
Ulsterman Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 the photo in its entirety. Note the horse.
Ulsterman Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 ooops- I meant 1913, by the LS medal peeking out at the end of the bar.
Guest Rick Research Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I'd say 1913/14:MEZ2LD2 (so he was a RESERVIST)?Colonial 2 bars?SWA multi bars...rest obscuredLong service awards came before campaigns until 1935, and from the size, it can only be an LD2.No name?
Leutwein Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 At first it?s a Vizefeldwebel (3 chevrons)! No way to identify him. For GSWA were approx. 2805 MEZII awarded. The 3rd one could be the colonial or china medal. Unfortunately has the pic a bad quality. But I would prefer a china-medal (due of the 2 battle clasps). All the bestLeutwein
joe campbell Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 lovely picture!wouldn't it be nice to computer colorizeto see what the ribbons looked like?thx, joe
