Gordon Williamson Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 A couple of nice documents from the collection of the U-Boot Archiv.Hersing's Truppenausweis from 1920, then serving on Linienschiff Braunschweig
Gordon Williamson Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 And it appears that during WW2 he served in a Werkluftschutz unit. Note the mini PLM lapel badge !
Gordon Williamson Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 Unfortunately behind glass in a dimly lit room so hard to photograph. Again the lapel miniature of the PLM in wear.

Les Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Unfortunately behind glass in a dimly lit room so hard to photograph. Again the lapel miniature of the PLM in wear.Gordon, thanks for posting that photo. The mini isn't centred on the ribbon, but appears to be suspended from the ribbon, similar to the one shown in the 1930's era Godet catalogue! The type usually seen has the cross -on- the ribbon, not suspended from. Neat to see photo documentation for the catalogue version!Les
Paul R Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I agree!! That is one heck of a grouping! I bet that there was no other LS member that was authorized to wear that award! What was his rank in the WerkLuftschutz?
