Ulsterman Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 ..."would you like to see my medals"?My cousin and I were at the local medal show last week and this popped up. I have zero Russian language skills, but couldn't say no to this unusual tid-bit, especially as I trust my cousin's instincts.I would welcome any comments and commentary. Seems like the medal was hard-won. I wonder how many of his class survived the war.
Ferdinand Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Nice one!Aron Abramovich Leibman (Jewish obviously) was a cadet at the VVMOLKU im. Frunze (Frunze Higher Naval Order of Lenin Command School) in Leningrad. The medal was awarded on 26 December 1943.
Riley1965 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 :jumping: VERY NICE, INDEED!!! I wish someone here in Dallas would come up to me with items like that... Doc
Guest Rick Research Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Can't remember ever seeing one made out to an officer candidate before. I have always liked these-- especially the ones issued like this DURING the "900 days."The stamp and "signatures"are always the same-- from the City PolCom, so having the military details filled out fully like this is a big help. Those wretched school initials always baffle me-- wish there was a Total List somewhere. Thanks for the "OLK" part I couldn't account for on the spot.
