Guest Rick Research Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 His Luftwaffe squadron badge. He was also entitled to a front flying clasp for his bizarre "hobby" wartime flying service.

So it's a sort of unofficial "Boys club badge" rather than an official award. Don't suppose you've got any colour photo's of the piece to see what it looks like . I know he was an accomplished pilot and actually flew sorties in his earlier days. Did other Luftwaffe squadrons have similar badges?regardsAlex K Edited January 15, 2009 by Alex K
Guest Rick Research Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 You need to ask in the Luftwaffe section. Dunno, me.

Paul R Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I knew that he had a pilots badge, but I never knew that he flew combat missions! Did he have any aerial victories? Is this how he got is 39 EK2?

I may just enquire.regardsAlex
Mike H Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Many photos of Heydrich show him wearing the Luftwaffe combat flight clasp (Frontflugspange). Here is an image with it in wear. He was also a Major in the Luftwaffe and flew nearly 100 missions on the Russian front. I do not know what type of aircraft. Mike
