Hi Thanks Rick for the speedy reply. So it's a sort of unofficial "Boys club badge" rather than an official award. Don't suppose you've got any colour photo's of the piece to see what it looks like . I know he was an accomplished pilot and actually flew sorties in his earlier days. Did other Luftwaffe squadrons have similar badges?

I knew that he had a pilots badge, but I never knew that he flew combat missions! Did he have any aerial victories? Is this how he got is 39 EK2?

Good point, if it's a 1939 decoration and also the EKII ribbon, in his button hole he must have fought some combat, don't know about any kills. I may just enquire.

Many photos of Heydrich show him wearing the Luftwaffe combat flight clasp (Frontflugspange). Here is an image with it in wear. He was also a Major in the Luftwaffe and flew nearly 100 missions on the Russian front. I do not know what type of aircraft.
