ОБЩЕСТВО ДРУЗЕЙ ВОЗДУШНОГО ФЛОТА (ЧОДВФ), добровольная массовая орг-ция, созданная в рамках развернувшегося патриотич. движения широких нар. масс под лозунгом: ?Трудовой народ, строй Воздушный Флот!?. ЧОДВФ возникло 5 мая 1923 и просуществовало до 13 марта 1925. Об-во сыграло значит. роль в развертывании кампании по сбору средств на постройку самолетов, сооружение авиапредприятий, пропаганде авиационного дела, развитие авиамодельного и планерного спорта. ЧОДВФ было создано вслед за общесоюз. об-вом ? ОДВФ СССР, организованным 8 марта 1923 и ставшим в короткий срок одной из самых массовых орг-ций трудящихся. В Уставе ОДВФ СССР отмечалось, что целью его ?является содействие партии и правительству в создании в СССР могущественной авиации?. Только за первый год работы числ. ОДВФ СССР составила 1 млн чел. ?Мы можем сказать смело, ? писал М. В. Фрунзе в марте 1924, ? что вопросы авиации стали в центре внимания широких масс?. Большую роль сыграло ОДВФ СССР в организации сбора добровольных пожертвований, одной из форм к-рых был выпуск марок, виньеток, значков, распространявшихся среди населения. За 1,5 года на добровольные пожертвования было построено или заказано 111 самолетов, сооружен ряд аэродромов, оказана помощь авиационной пром-сти. У истоков ЧОДВФ стояли ?тов. Анучин (предс. Губэкосо), тов. Евладов (зам. нач. Губземуправления), тов. Рамзайцев (Губвоенком), тов. Голубых (редактор ?Советской правды?), тов. Богданов (зав. Губфинотделом), тов. Кустиков (член правления Губпрофсовета)?, избранные 5 мая 1923 в состав врем. правления об-ва. К окт. 1923 ЧОДВФ насчитывало в своих рядах 1247 чл. В кассу и на текущие счета губерн. ОДВФ поступило 1060 червонцев. Организационное оформление ЧОДВФ было завершено к 1 янв. 1924 после районирования Урала. Об-во вошло в качестве окружного отделения в состав ОДВФ Урал. обл. В сфере его деят-сти ? 16 вновь созданных районов Чел. округа. За время своей деятсти ЧОДВФ внесло весомый вклад в создание гражд. и воен. флота, активно участвуя в сборе дополнит. средств на развитие авиации, успешно решая практич. делами вопросы агитации за его создание. На счету ЧОДВФ орг-ция спорт. кружков, праздников, проведение конкурсов на лучшую модель самолета, дирижабля и т. д. С его помощью был построен первый планер и отремонтирован 1-местный самолет системы ?Шпад?, использовавшийся для агитационных полетов (см. Авиация агитационная). ЧОДВФ занималось проведением субботников, недель помощи воздухофлоту, распространением марок, значков ОДВФ. К окт. 1924 в Чел. округе действовала 121 ячейка ОДВФ, 2 библиотеки, 23 авиауголка. Числ. об-ва выросла до 9,5 тыс. чел., из них 7 тыс. по Чел. и пос. Челябкопи и 2,5 тыс. чел. по районам. 2-й окружной съезд ЧОДВФ решил усилить работу об-ва в деревнях. Для села были приобретены кинопередвижки и ленты авиационноагитационного содержания. Жит. сел. районов стали снабжаться более дешевой лит-рой, ж. ?Самолет?. Одноврем. ЧОДВФ усилил работу по авиапросвещению молодежи. Повсеместно организовывались авиауголки и авиакружки, в школах были введены авиачасы. Развивались авиамодельный и планерный виды спорта. За 2 года работы ЧОДВФ было собрано 4,5 тыс. руб. Орг-ция выросла до 16 тыс. чел. На эти средства был заказан самолет ?Челябинец?, один из 15 в составе 1-й Урал. возд. эскадрильи им. тов. Свердлова, построенной по инициативе и на средства ?Урал ОДВФ?. 13 марта 1925 ОДВФ объединилось с оборонным об-вом ?Доброхим? в единое об-во друзей авиахим. обороны и пром-сти СССР (Авиахим), 23 янв. 1927 в результате объединения Авиахима и Об-ва содействия обороне СССР (ОСО) возник Осоавиахим.

Basic chronological point is that this PREDATED the Osoaviakhim badges of the 1930s.

So a 1941 date on the photo is confusing.

Either this was an OLD photo taken in the late 1920s when the "French" (after the English Field Marshal) tunic was first introduced, orrrrrrrr

this badge survived long after it was supposedly superceded.

I always think mid-1930s on when I see this uniform, but of course it was introduced for the air force in the mid-1920s.
