    A Stahlhelm Battalionfuhrer: 1933

    :Cat-Scratch: Most peculiar. There is a county in Oldenburg full of Catholics... but the rest of his medal bar is puzzling. Can you make out what the bar is on his China Medal? That appears to be a mere LD2 after that... so the KO4 is adding to the mystery here. ?M3K indicates a combatant officer....

    Hmm hmm. MAYBE it's an IX or XII and he was a naval engineer type... but no XXV....

    Yup-very off LS medal.

    Helpfully he wrote at the bottom: "...into the future" :rolleyes: -Freiherr Alfred (???) Lundburg,(?) Landfuhrer.

    Also, I think the bar says "Hophu"

    Ah- so he was in the Almanac then. His Mum was a princess?!

    Cool.

    Please, do you have details on his career at all?

    -Strikes me he might've been a supporter of Beck and Stauffenberg.

    :Cat-Scratch: Maybe the little round medal is actually a Hessian Bravery Medal?

    It's 1933 and the WEIRDO is wearing NEITHER his 1897 Centenary Medal NOR his XXV????? :speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1: :speechless1:

    As a FURTHER preposterous What-WAS-He-Thinking disguise-- he had a pre-war Order of the Crown of Italy-Knight which he is not wearing either. Resentment at Italy's betrayal of the Triple Alliance is at least understandable.

    What on earth he was doing omitting his XXV and 1897 is simply...

    :speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1::speechless1:

    and a VERY good example of WHY it is sometimes rendered impossible for the Research Gnomes Collective to come up with an identification

    if the person responsible is not wearing what he is supposed to wear. :shame:
