Guest Rick Research Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Found this orphaned at today's monthly militaria show--? Danube river border/customs personnel orrrrrrrsomething riverine merchant marine (barge cook )?Since Hungary has no navy... :catjava:
Kev in Deva Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Is your magnificent EPSOM SALTS scanner on the "Fritz" or did you forget to turn the scanner light on Kevin in Deva
Guest Rick Research Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 No, that's its actual color! I guess the "beautiful blue Danube" gets things all... icky from that not-salt spray!
Gordon Craig Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Rick,It is probably from one of the Danube boats. Impossible to say where it originated. They use this loose sort of anchor/wreath weave. Virtually no information on them or their uniforms. Several around though.Regards,Gordon
hunyadi Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 These cap badges for the River Flotilla were post 1957 as prior to that they used the standard HUPR crest.
Guest Rick Research Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Thanks guys. It's all your faults I've been lured across the river into this area, you know. :catjava:
Gordon Craig Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Rick,I take the fact that we "lured" you across the river into this area as a compliment. I can not post a picture of the pre communist badges but to give you an idea of what woven badges of other civilain organizations looked like, pre HUPR, here is a collection of Customs and Finance Guard cap badges from a Hungarian web site. It includes some woven cap badges.Regards,Gordon
