Rogi Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Let's hope pushkinists will never read this Aye I hope they realise I mean it with love for him, because there are much better portraits out there
TacHel Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) One major point that must be taken into consideratrion about the design of the Pushkin medal... Look who it is awarded to! Awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation with at least 20 years in socio-humanitarian activities for achievements in the arts and culture, education, humanities and literature, for great contribution to the study and preservation of our cultural heritage, in the rapprochement and mutual enrichment of cultures of nations and peoples, for the creation of highly artistic images. These folks care very little about official heraldry and the majority probably prefer a more artistic design like this than something that looks military... Edited August 7, 2013 by TacHel
Jerry T Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Since Canada is my home and my origin is from Europe, I think I have some experience to comment the good and bad of design (St Sava being one of the most beautiful medals my origin from Serbia has done) hehehe I agree Serbia has produced some outstanding designs and Milosh the Great is in class by itself. Some of your neighbors also make some great designs. Skanderbeg, Sts. Cyril & Methodius, Carol all come mind. It would be nice to have a thread dedicated to what collectors consider truly beautiful designs. Just an idea..........
