Ed_Haynes Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 The teenage tanker's award was (apparently) earned in the liberation of Głubczyce (n?e Leobsch?tz), a rather nasty business. As always comments and questions are welcomed.
Ferdinand Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 The booklet doesn't belong with this medal. The name in the booklet is Grigory Antonovich Aikalo, awarded a BM (probably unnumbered, and than somebody entered a serial number to create a fake 'group') by order #086/N of the 1026th Rifle Regiment on 14 September 1944. The research is to Nikolai Antonovich Kovun, awarded a BM by order #040/N of the 93rd Independent Tank Brigade on 13 April 1945.
Ed_Haynes Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) Oops, so true. What an idiot I am! I should have noticed that. Off goes the book "to Siberia", but the medal and the research are a fine thing. Thanks for the correction! Edited March 20, 2009 by Ed_Haynes
