Bernhard H.Holst Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I would read the inscription as ;"Herrn Stabsarzt Dr. OpperZur freundlichen ErinnerungJuli 1915I believe the abbreviations to be somewhat in use as a matter of expediency or to make use of limited space. For those among us not proficient in German " In kind remembrance "Bernhard H. Holst

Komtur Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 Hi,there is Bara Banka in Bangladesh:http://www.maplandia.com/bangladesh/dhaka-...-zl/bara-banka/Uwe But it is unlikely that Graf zu M?nster and Stabsarzt Opper were so far east in 1915.Kind regards, Komtur.
Guest Rick Research Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Bara Basska? Definitely someplace Poland-ish. I'd LIKE to force that handwriting into "Stara" which would be a normal Slavic place name "Old" and THAT would make the second bit "Stasska" or something like that. (???)Good spot on the GdC cuffs-- that sure seems to narrow down the "M?nster" suspects!
