Paul R
That is one nice looking badge! I have always wondered what these nations wore for Guards Badges!

I think it is important to identify if this badge is worn by ceremonial military units or elite military units carrying the Guards designation as in the USSR. In their book "YUGOSLAVIA ARMY INSIGNIA AND DECORATIONS 1918-1990" Furlan and Bjelo? identify the badge as a "Guards Units" badge.Regards,Gordon
SasaYU
Yes, Gordon, it is a Presidential Guard. But in Yugoslavia Guard units were not just a ceremonial military units. They were also elite military units.

Gordon Craig
SasaYU,Thanks for the info. Since it was introduced with the founding of the Escort Battalion perhaps it was only worn by them? I suspest that you are correct about the time it stopped being worn.Regards,Gordon
SasaYU
Badge was introduced on the 35th anniversary of foundation of Escort battalion. Escort battalion was founded in 1942. and lately (after the war) became a Guard. Yes it was worn only by the Guar unit.
