I know we have all seen steel and brass used to make these badges but how many have you seen with copper being used.

Actually, I think that one is made of Tombak, which is a mix of brass and copper. You see the same thing on the early bronze PABs by Wurster.

I'd agree with Don's evaluation - looks like patinated tombak to me. A nice honest example though! The only pure copper badges I've seen have been repros.

And many, many reasons why copper would not have been a suitable base metal to work in as well! Nice honest badge!
