JNoble Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) I know we have all seen steel and brass used to make these badges but how many have you seen with copper being used. Edited November 26, 2005 by JNoble
dond Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Actually, I think that one is made of Tombak, which is a mix of brass and copper. You see the same thing on the early bronze PABs by Wurster.Don
JNoble Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Yes Rick pin and all, as you can see by the broken catch its the same all the way though.
Mike K Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Actually, I think that one is made of Tombak, which is a mix of brass and copper...DonHi,I'd agree with Don's evaluation - looks like patinated tombak to me. A nice honest example though! The only pure copper badges I've seen have been repros. RegardsMike K
Stogieman Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 And many, many reasons why copper would not have been a suitable base metal to work in as well! Nice honest badge!
