If you look at the way these boards are sewn together, you can lay them flat and still see the bottom sticking out when looking down on them. If you look at a German made pair you will not see this. I took this a step further and looked at all of the sets that I found (not bought) in Iraq, and they did not stick out either. If you go to tridentmilitaria, you will see that all of the aftermarket "repro" sets, have seams that stick out when layed flat and viewed from above. It would seem that there is a bit of difficulty in getting someone to sew them together at the proper angle without showing the bottom seam. The Germans and the Iraqi's didn't seem to have this problem. So, I can't say for sure but I think that this is a sign of a repro made for souvenir purchases or for Trident etc... Like I said, this is just something I have noticed over time and a lot of observation. Maybe someday we will know for sure how to identify the Iraqi made ones from the vendor made ones. Scott.
