Guest Rick Research Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Not bad though. Hollywood was still using 9 inch high eagles, helmet decals the size of German Crosses and so on in that era. Now, of course, all officers have Knight's Crosses and nobody has anything but EK1s.Props departments. The best movie I ever so as far as matching individuals to styles of uniforms and awards was "The Longest Day." Given the number of surviving generals on both sides who acted as advisors, I've always wondered how much of their actual personal belongings were used by the actors.
VtwinVince Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Agreed about props departments. I even spotted a couple of errors on the uniforms in "Der Untergang".
Ulsterman Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 You know, I've always thought we should offer a free "historical advisory" service for Hollywood. If they used us, perhaps we'd even get a free movie ticket or two.
