David M Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 HiAs I was so fortunate with my request with regard to the Baden Carl Friedrich Order, I would also like to try the same for the Sachson St Henry Order. This time I am looking for the entry of Eduard von Treitschke, who allegedly received the order in 1849 (according to Verlohren)Carl Adolph von Sichart (same year)I would like to know if there is just info on the event which was the cause for the award (which I would not really be interested in) or also the remainder of the career of both men ( which would interest me a great deal!! )thanks for any helpregardsDavid

Deruelle Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi David, I used the following book : RICHTER (Oberst a. D G.), Der K.S. Milit?r St Heinrichs orden 1736-1918, Verlag Weidlich, Frankfurt a. Main, 1964, 752 p.There is nothing more about those menChristophe
Guest Rick Research Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 World War recipients (book published 1936, reprinted 1964) had the 1914-18 citations listed, but I don't know of an earlier volume that did the same for earlier recipients. From the 1853 Saxon Army rank List--von Treitschke was born in Dresden 1796entered army 1813Unteroffizier 1813Leutnant (all ranks as spelled then) 1814Oberleutnant 1826Hauptmann or Rittmeister (columns do not distinguish which of these title all captains had) 1836Major 1846Oberstleutnant 1848Oberst 1848 (yes SAME YEAR)Generalmajor 21.09.49 (yes 2 promotions in one year!!!!!!!!!)1853 Commander 2nd Infantry Divisionvon Sichart was born in Dresden 1797entered Saxon army 1811Unteroffizier 1811Leutnant 1812Oberleutnant 1822Rittmeister or Hauptmann 1834Major 1843Oberstleutnant 1848Oberst 1849Generalmajor 16.10.511853 Commander of Leib-Infanterie Brigade and acting Governor of Dresden
bob lembke Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Perhaps the awards and promotions in 1849 were related to services or loyalty during the disturbances of 1848.Bob Lembke

Guest Rick Research Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Page 55. I will scan it for you. Actually von Sichart's shows as "wegen Auszeichnung bei der Bek?mpfung des Aufstandes in Dresden." (that is at the head of the 27.05.49 list on page 54) and von Treitschke's "wegen Auszeichnuung in dem siegrichen Gefecht von Eckernf?rde."Back later with the scan.
