    Hi,

    Because Imperial Russia period is "dark" age for me, can someone please help me with the shoulder board and uniform on the picture. Any info would be great. :jumping:

    The thing that has been bugging me is--

    while he wears the insignia of an ordinary private, the leather cross belt and pockets on his gimnastyorka would indicate an officer. Yet he is not wearing any form of Cadet-grade insignia.

    Very good point Rick.

    Just MAYBE in Artillery, even privates who was working some specific area, they was wearing leather pocket for maps, etc on the belt?
