HeikoGrusdat Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Can someone tell me please what that neck order is??? I am a bit nervous because it is the PLM shaped cross but who got two EKs and a PLM as only ww1 awards? Or is it some kind of Malteser thing without the breast cross (or breast cross hided behind the arm...) ? Or whatever...??? He has two awards for colonial service (KO4X and DSWA-medal with two clasps) and two awards for ww1 (EK1 + 2) - nothing else.... any comments are welcome!!! Thanks Heiko
medalnet Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 The eagles seem not to have crowns, which a St.John's Ehrenritter would have to have. So it must be a PlM?!
Guest Rick Research Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Oh Lord... he looks like 55 yet he was still only 36 when he was killed. That would be Konrad Kalau v. Hofe, born 22 July 1880 Leutnant 18.05.01 A2a Oberleutnant 17.05.10 X9x Hauptmann 05.09.14 C6c From Inf Rgt 26 to Inf Rgt 52 He was a hero of Fort Douaumont, receiving the Pour le Merite 23 July 1916, skipping the HOH3X. He was buried alive by the explosion of a mine under his battalion command post at Cornilletberg on 29 April 1917, and by the time it was dug out 20 hours later, he and everyone else inside had suffocated. Look at that face.
HeikoGrusdat Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 OH my god......... you have a name for that???? Unbelievable.... that`s not what I expected - thank you very much , great destiny...will try to find his story somewhere online
Deruelle Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Heiko, Nice card you have. Here is our man with his ribbon bar Christophe
Deruelle Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Several years ago I have got one ribbon bar with similar ribbons that Kalau received. Have a look. And you can see device on second ribbon, typical device for KO4X and not for the RAO4X. Christophe
Paul C Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Do you know who the top 10 place ribbon bar belonged to? Is that a Max Joseph ribbon after the EK ribbon?
Deruelle Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Hi Paul, The big ribbon bar belonged to Major a.D Lukas Ritter von Kaufmann from KB IR Nr. 9 Christophe
