Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Being a new member here I'd like to introduce myself by posting some photos from my collection. In fact I'm more into WW2 photographs collecting but nevertheless I have several albums with photos from WW1 period. To start with I'd like to show some photos of Paul von Hindenburg. Unfortunately size of an image is limited to 70 Kb and I have to compress every scan mercilessly Here we go anyway. # 1. Hindenburg is accompanied by the head of the Office of the President of Germany Otto Meißner (1880-1953).
Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 # 2. Hindenburg is greeted by civil and military officials as well as some ordinary Berliners.
Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 # 3. Von Hindenburg shakes hands with Adolf Hitler. This one is a press-photo.
Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 # 4. The handwriting on the backside of the photo says: "Vater mit Hindenburg in Goslar auf dem Osterfeld, Juli 1923. A.Ernst". I don't have any idea who could have been that gentleman whose father seemed to be very close to Hindenburg.
Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 By the way, do you have any ideas who this general wearing Prussian guards Pickelhaube is?
Freiwillige Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 Another general from that photo. I'm seeking help for his identification as well.
Freiwillige Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 # 5. Another impressive photo of Paul von Hindenburg purchased recently.
Freiwillige Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 # 6. Paul von Hindenburg accompanied by the Ulan officer inspects troops.
Guest Rick Research Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 #6 might be Generaloberst aD Josias von Heeringen (1850-1926). #5 no clue who the general is since his identifiable awards (a Prussian General with Grand Cross of the Bavarian MMO isn't enough) BUT notice that the top hatted veteran is INCORRECTLY wearing the GHASTLY veterans cross normally stuck on medal bars (its size and fore-and-aft suspension loop make that impossible, ugly THING) aound his neck. There was no "commander" grade-- he's wearing that 2nd Class in a way I've never seen before.
Freiwillige Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Thanks a lot for your useful remarks, Rick!
Eric Stahlhut Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 if i remember correctly the neck cross grade was worn until 1925 or so--and after that, this grade was issued as a pinback.
Freiwillige Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 No.7 Von Hindenburg in the backseat of the car accompanied by a Kaiserliche Marine officer and another General.
Freiwillige Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Fragment of the previous photo. Can someone identify von Hindenburg's companions?
Freiwillige Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 No.8 Another von Hindenburg photo from my collection.
Freiwillige Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Very nice photographs! Thank you! Any comments on photos No.7 and No.8 regarding the identification of the high-ranking officers?
Freiwillige Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 No.9 High-quality period press-photo. The caption on the back of the photo states: "Deutsche Weihestunde des Deutschen Reichskriegerbundes "Kyffhäuser". Reichspräsident v.Hindenburg bei der Weihestunde" Presse-Photo G.m.b.H. Berlin".
Freiwillige Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 No.10 Another photo of Hindenburg taken by a professional photographer.
