Guest Darrell Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Good stuff. Thanks for showing Brian.
FrontlineAntiques Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 This is an IGS Medal 1908 in bronze, It was awarded to: GRASS CUTTER AMAR, 19th LANCERS Regards Brian What an amazing rank! i have never seen that before. Thanks Brian Dan
Mervyn Mitton Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 A most interesting post - but, I agree with Dan - the Grasscutter naming must be almost unique. Does that mean my gardener is eligible to a medal ?
Guest Darrell Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Maybe it was the "other" kind of grass that the officers dipped into
paul wood Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Maybe it was the "other" kind of grass that the officers dipped into Grass cutter is a scarce rank but they do turn up, they were an essential part of the S&T providing fodder for horses, mules and camels a much rarer rank (and I have seen one on a bronze PF and Malkand) is a Grass Mule attendant (probably stopped the blighters eating themselves to death) Paul
