Hi Kev, I was too wondering about the armbands ? I tried to do a bigger pic of just the arm.

I think the lower one reads:

Im Dienst ?? Heere ??

The upper might be a sign for a group leader?

Nice pictures - Not Luftwaffe but Army Nachrichtenhelferinen des Heeres(also, note the Heer eagles on the tunics)

the black ribbon on the arm is a Trauer Armbinde (mourning-ribbon) A friend or family member has recently died
