An early Christmas present

This little darling arrived on my doorstep a few weeks back, I consider it an early present from me to me (since my wife only buys me "practical" gifts like socks and cordless drills) .

RAO (4th class?), 25 year DA and Centenary. A nice restoration project when I can get around to it.

The good news is... you really don't have to do anything with it. Though the hooks on back seem to be placed for exactly the awards you've described, I think it was likely worn as a ribbon bar without the awards and the hooks are just for "in case."

I don't think a General Decoration in Silver medal and Prussian XV Years Service Cross would "hang" right.

Occasionally one encounters officers ribbon bars like this with hooks on back that were probably never used.

That is a classic pre-world war Major's trio.

Here's this one again, once more made up with medals from other bars, just to see what it will be like once I get around to sourcing the awards needed to complete it....only a Centenary and (another!) RAO for this one!
