Mike Fawson Posted July 31, 2010 Share Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Here's something of a rareity - a FLL Nickle Silver Flak badge - it is extremely fragile (as can be seen by the cracks on the rear), as far as I know FLL only made a few of these before they changed to using Zinc. The soldering is a bit crude on the hinge, but it's nothing to worry about. The cracks appeared during manufacturing, they have not got any worse over time. I was in contact with a certain Flak badges book autor about this badge and he is more than happy with it being original - it is an omission from the Flak Badges book - as the author was not aware of these when the book went to print. One of the reasons FLL changed from Nickle Silver to zinc was the problems they had in manufacturing - this is one reason you see so few of these - the other is that many of the originals would have broken a long time ago.
