Paul R Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Beautiful Megan. Were these awarded like long service awards?
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Were these awarded like long service awards? No, they were awarded for merit. There was a separate medal for 30, 20 and 10 years of service in Civil Defence (Medaille für Treue Pflichterfüllung in der Zivilverteidigung der DDR). I will send a scan tomorrow if no one else does.
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Medaille für Treue Pflichterfüllung in der Zivilverteidigung der DDR.
Paul R Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 OK. I see the difference now. Are there any other Civil Service Medals?
Megan Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 There's a Meritorious Member of Civil Defense (Ehrentitel Verdienter Angehöriger der Zivilverteidigung der DDR) as well, but I haven't got a picture of that yet!
ilja559 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Megan,if you need some DDR medal picture, let me now. Regards. Ilja
Megan Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 All contributions gratefully received, Ilya :)
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Are there any other Civil Service Medals? The Civil Defence LSM (Medaille für Treue Dienste in der Zivilverteidigung) was awarded for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years for individuals who served professionally in the Civil Defence. It looked almost identical to the NVA LSM, with the same ribbon, only the words "NATIONALE VOLKSARMEE" were replaced with "ZIVILVERTEIDIGUNG". Edited February 16, 2011 by Lukasz Gaszewski
Paul R Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Now that is a rarity. Any clues to the number of professionally serving members of the Civil Defence Forces? Also, did they have any enameled medals?
