Lukasz Gaszewski Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (Order Usmiechu) Instituted in 1968. The only decoration of the world conferred on children's proposal and behalf to adults, irrespective of nationality, statehood and profession, for a heart shown to children. Initially Polish, it is now an international order with its own chapter. The investiture is accompanied by a ceremony, during which recipients must drink a cup of lemon juice to the bottom, keeping a smile on their faces. The medal was designed in 1967 by a then 9-year-old girl, Ewa Chrobak (a dame of the order since 1997). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Smile
nickstrenk Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 One of the first awarded was Soviet cartoon maker Kotenočkin, author of series Ну,погоди!-Oh,await?Personally,I like the order. It returns us to the childhood. How many awarded have been since?
paul wood Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Now that is an order I would love to receive. Paul
Megan Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Likewise... if only for the lemon juice, which I like anyway!
paul wood Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Yes lemon juice is nice, especially with a generous dash of Zubrowka ( I would certainly be able to retain a smile after that). Paul
nickstrenk Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Also Czech had their Order of Smile of Kids, instituted in 1976
