Chris Boonzaier Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Well, I am a battlefield walker, not a metal detoector guy, so I dont usually find REALLY cool stuff... until a few weeks ago at Verdun. We were walking up a hill on the central battlefield where the forestry dept had just ripped a firebreak.... As usual small shells...
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Then in amongst all that... a pocket watch.... Which is usually the kind of stuff the illegal metal detector guys find... but there it was, in a bulldozer track... a German pocket watch... 95 years later....
sambolini Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Hi, What a great find and it is in such great condition, all things considered. I think a personal item like this would be a more exciting find than all the usual things you see found such as spent ammo, helmets, and other such equipment. Kind regards, sam
dond Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Even neater is the fact that the track from the back hoe actually ran over it and did no damage to it. The 15cm projectile above cannot make the same claim. I wonder what the driver would think if he had saw that......
Guest IMHF Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 chris Very nice finds I bet there is hidden treasures all over that place! Lorenzo
