PKeating
Someone told this might be an Austrian piece but I don't see how it could be. The only hallmark on it is the little six-armed star on the pin. It looks German to me but can anyone tell me which firm made it? Thanks in advance, PK
Deruelle
Hi PK it is true that some Austrian makders used star as hallmarck. SOme were seen on Austrian cross of the Iron and on Military Merit Order 3rd class. It's the first time for me to see an Austrian maker for the Gallipoli star. Thanks for sharing it with us Christophe
saschaw
The austrian "star" mark denotes use of silvered or gilt non-noble metal, e.g. gilt bronze on the mentioned orders. There were some German makers that used it as well (for what-ever reason), e.g. C.F. Zimmermann from Pforzheim, so I'm not sure if this one has to be Austrian.
