AOK4
When is the pic of Martin Otto taken? I don't see why he would have received the VR1 in 1918, so it must be in WW2? But I can only find that he commanded training units 1939-1941 and was inactive from 1942 on...

AOK4
Where did you find this info? I find it very strange for a German who had nothing to do with Finland to receive this medal. BTW it isn't a neck order either... But that is probably a personal adaptation?
Deruelle
Hi, Don't forget that a lot of german soldiers has fought with Finnish army for their liberty. It explains why they received those crosses. yes, this man should wore the cross on his medal bar but after the war some officers took liberty to wear orders like they want. You can find more information about Otto in the Previtera's book, Prussian Blue. Christophe

Arnim
It is my understanding that SS Obergruppenfuehrer Felix Steiner earned this medal in 1942. Does anyone know whether he was also awarded the Order of the White Rose - knight? Cheers, Arnim
