new world
I was given the following description for this order: Romania Kingdom - Order of the Romanian Star, Grand Cross, sash badge, 1st type. With Sash, hallmarked on the ring. Size - 75x125mm I don't have experience in handling this award, please provide your opinions. I have two main questions: 1) Does the reverse suppose to look like this? I don't see blue enamel on the arms of the cross - it this normal? 2) Is sash ribbon original? Thank you! Kev in Deva
I find it very strange that there is no blue enamel to the rear of this piece, especially as the wreath is coloured, and the background behind the Kings Cypher. The other lower classes have the cross in blue on both sides of the piece The sash looks similar to this type being offered at:- http://www.ebay.com/...I-/360273478379 another seller of New Romanian sashes:- http://www.ribbonssh.../romanian-star/ Your piece also looks very similar to the one being offered here, is it in fact the same item? http://www.rarusnet.com/product_info.php?products_id=13127 Kevin in Deva. Edited August 25, 2011 by Kev in Deva
new world
Kevin, Thank you! Yes, that's the same cross. I too find it strange that it has no blue enamel on reverse. It's one thing if enamel is damaged, but here it is missing completely. Edited August 25, 2011 by new world
ordersandmedals.ro
Looks taht the seller decided to get rid of the remainings of the enamel instead of repair the damaged areas. Anyway the jewel (cross) was/is original, just damaged.
