JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Lately I find an interesting variation of type 3 (Showa epoch) badge. We will call this new type - type 3.1 and the old type 3 (that was shown in posts #11 and #12) type 3.2. Here it is. This type 3.1
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) There are numerous differences We will start with the most prominent. First it is flags. Actually their fastening Type 3.2 is on the left Edited January 13, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Another place to check is the pole and enamel at the harness Type 3.1 is the last one Edited January 13, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Kites have slightly different form and elaboration Type 3.2 is on the left
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Also rings have different form too Type 3.2 again is on the left
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 These differences between type 3.1 and type 3.2 are very stable. Allow me to demostrate this by way of example. Here comes another type 3.2
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Same differences Kites (type 3.1 is on the left)
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Same "not at the right angle" fastening of the flag and more eloborate design Edited January 13, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Familiar pattern of enamel at the harness (type 3.1 is still on the left) Edited January 13, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Same more "prominent" pattern at the pole
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Same ring differences .. Please note the position of the ray - in case of type 3.1 (it is on the left) the ray is at the perimeter of the ring and in case of type 3.2 it is actually part of the ring Edited January 13, 2013 by JapanX
Lapa Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 These differences between type 3.1 and type 3.2 are very stable. Allow me to demostrate this by way of example. Here comes another type 3.2 Nick, I believe that you made a mistake here; your new example is, according to your excellent explanations, a type 3.1 Marc
JapanX Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Yes, of course it should be "Here comes another type 3.1 ;)" not "... type 3.2" Thanks for correcting me Marc! Cheers, Nick
