brianch Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hi..Please can anyone offer any help to place regiments to divisions in order I may be able to find where specific Divisions/regiments fought during the Verdun battle(s) I have a few sterbebild of men killed but would like to know a little more and this is a fairly recent interest (german) having previously concentrated on the French. I am aware of some downloads available but I am still not 100% sure of my findings so if there is anyone who can put me right, I would be very grateful KIA 3 August 1916 13th Inf Regt KIA 23 June 1916 201 res Inf Regt KIA 12 July 1916 1st Inf Regt KIA 12 June 1916 12th Inf regt KIA 12 June 1916 24th Inf Regt Thanks in advance Brian
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hi, I think there is a mix there of bavarian and "Other" ? 1st and 12th must be bavarian? Thanks Chris

Chris Boonzaier Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Hi Brian, regiment 1 and 12 are Grenadier-Rgts., maybe we can see some Sterbebilder!? Best regards, Jens Hi, but not in this case.... KIR Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) Hi Chris, Hi, but not in this case.... Best Chris ... yes you are right, the 12th Inf regt. = 5th infantry-division was June 1916 Reserve der O. H.-L.: Militär/Formationsgeschichte/Deutschland/Alte Armee/5. Division – GenWiki That's why I'm asking to see some Sterbebilder! Most of this cards are from the (catholic) bavarian-region! Best regards, Jens Edited October 22, 2011 by KIR
brianch Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Thanks for the replies - I will post some photo's but my previous experience was not too good as the photo's had to be reduced so much they were barely viewable. I will do my best and thanks agai Brian
brianch Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Its as I thought - too small to read. Sorry
Chip Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 brianch, You must be doing something wrong if you can't post a Sterbebild in real size or larger. Are you scanning them or photographing them? Scanning is better. Chip
brianch Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 OK I'll try scanning - Photo's don't do them justice at the small size allowed
brianch Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Another attempt at Verdun sterbebilder - not all are self explanatory
KIR Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Hi Brian, all Sterbebilder are bavarian-units, exept the last one (RIR201) Best regards, Jens
brianch Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Thanks for the info - a bit concerned about the last one who according to the German grave search was killed at Douamont but there seems to be a mention of "Koytnica-Watyn" on the card. Thanks again Brian
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Hi, am looking after kids all day, will try to get back to this soon... Have a few write ups on the 12th bavarian on the kaiserscross site best Chria
