Moreover there were 8 variants of that badge - various additions to the two basic grades, 1st and 2nd class, namely II. Stufe II. Stufe mit Eichenlaub II. Stufe mit Schwertern II. Stufe mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern I. Stufe I. Stufe mit Eichenlaub I. Stufe mit Schwertern I. Stufe mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern. Still, i have pics of SAs in wear with the swords and oaks well into the 1940s. I don't think ferreting out the cancelled classes was a priority. But: "Schlesisches Bewährungsabzeichen, various additions to the two basic grades" Freiwillige, there are only two classes, I.Stufe and II. Stufe. See for example HuS from 1940, No. 406j 406k on page 118: "Verboten ist die Hinzufügung von Schwertern, Eichenlaub und dergl." > Eichenlaub und Schwerter are not allowed. ".. aus mattgeschwärztem Eisen (also nicht emailliert) ...)" > iron, not enamelled. Or see Dombrowski from 1940 on page 32/33: "... abweichende Formen und Arten des Schlesischen Bewährungsabzeichens - z.B. die Hinzufügung von Eichenlaub und Schwertern - dürfen ncht getragen, hergestellt, angeboten, feilgehalten, verkauft oder sonst in den Verkehr gebracht werden." > Eichenlaub und Schwerter and enamelled crosses are not allowed, under threat of penalty.
