Chris Boonzaier Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Oooohh.... that is more than interesting!! I have about 8 German, 8 US, 5 French.... but only one British officer. High on my list is a really nice British OR Jacket, so this is a nice start on my way to learning about them... Please keep the information coming!!!
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 If i needed one to make a 1917 lewis Gunner, can I take one without badges, or would I have too look out for a specific set of badges? Thanks Chris
Joe Sweeney Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Chris, A qualified Lewis Gunner would wear a LG in a wreath on his lower lef sleeve (there were variations to this wear). Official it was supposed to be worsted but Brass seems far more common. Joe S
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Hi Joe, are there any specific collar or shoulder badges or would the "LG" be enough? Thanks Chris
Mervyn Mitton Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Chris - I have a LG in wreath if you decide you need-it. Mervyn
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Chris - I have a LG in wreath if you decide you need-it. Mervyn Thanks, I will get back to you as soon as i have found a bare jacket :-)
Joe Sweeney Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Chris, No specific collar insignia per se unless you are doing a specific unit that applied LG specific battle patches. Joe S
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 So a "naked" jacket with a LG is in order? From my googling over the past year or so there seems to be more canadian than British jackets, and sometimes some Polemic about the color in these canadian jackets (which are apparently cheaper than the British ones... what would you advise a "i just need one classic piece" kinda guy, as opposed to someone who needs all the variations? Thanks Chris
