demir Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 JH WERNER I don't know where I found the picture. Date turned.
TerryG Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Great photos and great Stars. I want them all! even without the '1'....
R.S. Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 So what is the significance of the missing 1 ? I have just purchased a Turkish 3rd pattern and this is missing the 1 , why would the Turks miss a 1 out ? . Cheers Rob
TerryG Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Poor workmanship? Worn dies? Illiterate worker?
R.S. Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Terry possibly but I doubt it . No there must be a reason why 1333 ( 1915 ) is 333 any Turkish historians here ? Rob
TerryG Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) There is no 'historical' reason why the one is missing. The year in the arabic calendar also has 4 digits and the 1 has been chopped off. The true reason behind this remains conjecture. This has been discussed and I do not see this as a reason to reject the piece. Can you show the back of the star please? Edited February 21, 2012 by TerryG

Turkish made red lacquer painted original ones have the date 1333 on them. Please read the threads on this subject: http://www.wehrmacht...ad.php?t=567051 Regards Demir Edited February 21, 2012 by demir
R.S. Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Phew what an argument here is a photo of the back . I thought the sewn piece of ribbon is typical of Turkish worn awards . Rob
TerryG Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This 'painted' Turkish one does not have the correct pin......Demir, do you agree?
R.S. Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 http://militarianz.freeforums.org/id-the-original-from-the-fake-turkish-gallipoli-star-1333-t2229.html Not according to this bunch . Rob
TerryG Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Looks like one person on there is giving an opinion. I think the issue of the Turkish made star and its poor quality pin has been discussed elsewhere.
demir Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 This 'painted' Turkish one does not have the correct pin......Demir, do you agree? Hi Terry, Which medal. As far as I know TWM, there is no Ottoman mint made Medal picture in this thread. Regards
demir Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) http://militarianz.f...1333-t2229.html Not according to this bunch . Rob Hi Rob, I checked that thread. Only the first picture is the Ottoman make, the rest who knows. Information given there about the Ottoman Made Medal in the first paragraph is OK. Who produced 2nd and 3rd one needs clarification. The facts about the TWM is in my recently published book named "the Turkish War Medal". Regards Demir Regards Edited February 26, 2012 by demir
