saschaw
I found this one browsing eBay, and assume it's Russian life saving medal. I find it's looking a bit strange - is my gut feeling right this is a modern fake? http://www.ebay.de/itm/150760571896 I couldn't find much on this medal. Anyone has a link with further information, possibly English or German? I (unfortunately!) don't read Russian. When was this modell awarded, maybe how many? How common or scarce are they, and what do they usually go for?
Paul R
Also, what color ribbon would be with it?
Megan
Ribbon red with black edges... but you know the Imperial Russians, always a bit vague with medal ribbons!

It looks a particularly unpleasant fake that I would not touch with a 10 foot bargepole. Paul
TacHel
I fully endorse Paul's assessment... Steer well clear of this "thing".
saschaw
It looks a particularly unpleasant fake that I would not touch with a 10 foot bargepole. Thank you! Hope you like mine better? Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything - when/how long and how many awarded, what they do sell for and so... it seems to be quite scarce?! I'm used to life saving medals being not common, but in Germans states, the bigger the state, the more common the medal. Russia is so much bigger... is'n the medal comon?

Yours appears to be the the earlier Nicholas II type. While not common they are not hugely rare but it least your piece from the illustration appears to be genuine. Paul R
It the medal above Silver or some silver colored metal? Are there any hallmarks on it?
paul wood
It the medal above Silver or some silver colored metal? Are there any hallmarks on it? The Medal will be silver but it is unlikely (not impossible) to be hallmarked. Paul
saschaw
Thanks! Having it in hands, I agree it seems to be silver, but is unmarked.
